PART 1
For this project I search lots of information about British history, and finally I choose the Suart period (1603-1712), there are two main styles in architecture and funiture sprepectively. I choose this period because this is the first time two kingdom became into one, and this led some impacts in the aesthetics. Also, my design is based on the middle and little bit higher's family.
Domestic activities were greatly restricted after sunset, when the only sources of light were the fire in the hearth and candles or rushlights. The light from rushlightsand tallow candles was poor and they gave off an unpleasant smell. Beeswax candles gave a better light and were less smelly, but they were also much more expensive and tended to be reserved for special occasions.
Rich colours:The exuberance of the Jacobean style is reflected in the rich colours used. This is particularly seen in textiles and clothing. Furniture was also brightly painted although often only small traces of these colours remain today.
Heraldry:Royal and family coats of arms were important symbols of loyalty and status in the Jacobean period. They were often incorporated into designs
This is something about fashion for man in the 17th century. The Boots with spurs became fashionable for walking, from 1610 to 1660 and formed part of a gentleman’s outdoor wear. The photo on the right, the gauntlets decorate with scallops and embroidery.
From 1628-1635 a similar style was worn but closed just below the knee and there fastened on the outside by a ribbon rosette, or by sash garters tied in large bows.
PART 2
This is my first time to study Sketchup, I found quite hard to create a curve shape. I designed a really simple space for drawing room, and add a balcony. In my imagination, the ground floor was used as a shop or workshop and the living spaces were above. I also viewed many gallerys, and I used the picutre I took, to filled the model in the Sketchup. The photo on the left, I plan to use it as the fabric on the sofa, or the carpet on the table. This cause by the carpet is really expensive in 17th, if normal family have one such as Turkey carpet, they will put it on the table. In addition, sometimes they may hanging on the wall.
