The fifth week

December 04, 2017

I was starting to prepare the group presentation for my Unit 2 assessment. For the presenting, I need the location survey, technical drawing of my location including the plan elevations, white card model, moodboard both for set and costume, also my workbook.

During the assessment, the tutor mentioned that our technical drawing is too light, which means we need to drawing harder to make the drawing stand out. Then I got some other suggestions for my next stage work from moodboard which is the colour model. I viewed others' moodboard, their moodboard are quite colourful and most of them are quite old fashion. However, I want to change my model to a modern place which is security check in the airport. This means that there may not have many changes the white model to and colour model.

The fourth week

November 27, 2017

I started to make to white card model, I prepared some materials such as foamboard, knife, PVA glue and UHU glue. I used two different types of glue for different purposes, PVA drying slowly but UHU could dry in a second. The easiest thing I made was the table, the hardest thing was the irregular wall, which is an essential object of the whole model. During the making I also need to consider about the width of the foam board, it may damage the whole length of the objects. In addition, the reason for using foamboard is thinner than mountboard. Moreover, I got a plastic sheet, I cut them as electric door and security barricades. Also, I found some annoyances. For example, I need to make sure about the edges of the shapes is vertical with the plane, because it may damage the board cannot stand straight on the plane.

The first week

November 06, 2017

The first week of Unit 2, we did metal work orientation and demonstration, also the ear modeling project. This project was about measuring and making, instead of making a perfect ear by clay. The tutor told us we will measure the small ear for three times, but I actually measured the small ear more than three times. This is because when I shaped the clay the whole figure has moved, each time I made changes I need to measure that again, to make sure it is still the same ratio.

The second week

November 13, 2017

This is the second week, we ended the ear modeling project on Tuesday. From this project, we learned some skills such as grid, scaling up and using different perspectives. Also, we gather all the clay ears in one big table, to summarise the experience. Moreover, through the workshop of last two weeks, we knew many materials and machines in use.

For example: clay, resin, silicon, algernate, plaster.

spoturelder, lathe, soldering, migurelder, metul founding.

Then we started a new project called transforming a location. The first task I did is measuring, it did not take ages to do, but in many times. I started with a really mass draft, only got three lines on my paper which shows the hight, the length, and the width respectively.

The thrid week

November 20, 2017

On Monday, we began to draw the plan. We used A1 tracing paper and pencil which need to be in H or 2H, to keep the drawing clear. During the week, I been to the library and measuring for several times, because there are always some details I cannot be recognized. Also, it is important to use different tools, such as T-square and set square. Also, we need to write each letter very precise in capital letters, this could make sure everyone can read the writing. This writing needs to be practiced because it is not simple after I tried. Moreover, when I finished the drawing, the whole space seems to be more clear, and this could help me to make the model.
